Plenty of companies say they work in Maple. We can show you. FixitPlus built a custom new build in Maple — warm and wood-forward, with a custom wood kitchen, coffered ceilings, a billiards room and a sun-filled great room — and we took a tired, empty Maple resale through a whole-home renovation: a new kitchen, refinished floors, fresh bathrooms and a full repaint. Both projects are on the site, the renovation with before-and-after photos. Building one house and rebuilding another in the same community is how you learn the way its homes are put together, and that is the knowledge a good handyman visit runs on.
Maple started as a crossroads village at Keele Street and Major Mackenzie Drive. It was Noble’s Corner and then Rupertsville before the name Maple stuck, and the railway that came through in the 1850s left it a station that still runs today as the heritage-designated Maple GO on the Barrie line. The old core around that intersection, a short walk from Vaughan City Hall, is a heritage conservation district, and the older streets nearby mix village houses and post-war homes with the custom houses that have replaced many of them. In the older houses, expect plaster in places, trim profiles nobody stocks any more and floors that have settled over the decades. Exterior changes inside the district can need a heritage permit from the City of Vaughan, so we raise that while quoting rather than on the day.
The suburban build-out came in waves. A few small subdivisions went up in the 1960s, but the larger ones began in the 1980s around McNaughton Road, and Canada’s Wonderland opened in 1981 between Jane Street and Highway 400, drawing families north. The old Maple Airport closed in 1987 and became a subdivision in the 1990s — street names such as Avro, Lockheed and Mustang still give it away — and through the late 1990s and early 2000s the houses spread west to Highway 400 and north to Teston Road, with larger estate-style homes going up toward Dufferin Street. Most of that housing is two-storey detached homes, semis and townhouses now somewhere between twenty-five and forty years old.
That age is what drives most Maple handyman calls. The builder’s caulk and grout gave out long ago, oak stair railings have loosened at the newel, closet doors have come off their tracks, original weatherstripping has flattened and the first deck is on its last few winters. None of it is dramatic, and almost none of it needs a renovation. It is a list, and a list worked through by one builder-trained crew in a single flat-rate visit is cheaper and faster than booking a separate trade for every line.
Maple is also still growing. New subdivisions have filled in north of Teston Road between Highway 400 and Jane Street, the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital opened at Jane and Major Mackenzie in 2021, and condos and stacked towns have been added along the main roads. Newer freehold homes bring the young-house list — hairline cracks at door and window corners, builder doors drifting out of adjustment, shrinking caulk, a basement still waiting on trim — while condos and towns bring shared walls, building rules on drilling and a service elevator to book. If your home is still inside its Tarion new-home warranty, report covered defects to the builder first; we take care of what falls outside it.
Our Vaughan page covers the whole city, from Woodbridge and Concord to Kleinburg. This page is about Maple alone, where a 1950s house near the village core, a 1990s two-storey on the airport lands and a brand-new townhouse north of Teston can all land on the same week’s schedule. We quote each for what is actually behind its walls, send one flat-rate price for the whole list, and keep Alan, our project manager, as your single point of contact from the first photo to the final walkthrough. When a list turns out to be the start of a renovation — a kitchen past saving, floors that need refinishing rather than patching — we say so, because we do both.

What Maple homeowners call us for
Heritage-district exteriors in Old Maple
Inside the Maple heritage conservation district, repairing original windows, doors, trim and porch details is often simpler than replacing them, and changes visible from the street can need a heritage permit from the City of Vaughan. We repair in kind where we can and flag anything that needs approval before it goes into the quote.
The twenty-five-to-forty-year list
Homes from the 1980s and 1990s around McNaughton Road and on the old airport lands wear out together: failed caulk and porous grout, loose oak railings, bifold and bypass doors off their tracks, binding interior doors and flattened weatherstripping. We work the whole list in one visit, priority items first.
Finish-grade work in custom homes
Custom infill near the village core and estate-style homes toward Dufferin mean coffered ceilings, tall doors, stone and wide millwork. Having built a coffered-ceiling home in Maple ourselves, we protect finishes properly, rehang heavy doors on the right hardware and repaint at height without leaving marks behind.
First-years punch lists north of Teston
Settlement cracks at door and window corners, builder-grade doors and hardware out of adjustment, shrinking caulk and roughed-in basements in Maple’s newest subdivisions. Covered defects go to your builder under Tarion; the TV, shelving, blinds, extra trim and everything else outside the warranty we handle.
Townhouse and condo installs
Stacked towns and condos along Maple’s main roads mean shared walls that act as fire separations, building rules on drilling hours and a service elevator to book. We confirm what your corporation allows, never cut recessed boxes into a party wall, and plan the install so it finishes on the first visit.
Resale refresh before listing or move-in
Old mount holes, nail pops, scuffed walls, tired caulk, binding doors and loose hardware — the items that make a house look neglected in listing photos or on moving day. One flat-rate visit, scheduled around your listing or closing date, with paint going on last.

Work you can actually look at
Maple is the one community where our proof is local twice over. Our whole-home renovation here took a tired, empty resale to a bright, staged, move-in-ready home — new kitchen, refinished floors, fresh bathrooms and a warm neutral palette throughout — and the before-and-after photos are on the site. We also built a custom new build in Maple, with a custom wood kitchen, coffered ceilings and a billiards room. Same company, same project manager and the same standard on a Maple handyman visit.
Buying or selling a Maple resale: what to fix, and in what order
A lot of Maple’s housing is now changing hands for the second or third time. The 1990s and early-2000s homes that make up much of the community are at the age where a buyer’s home inspection turns up a page of small items and a seller’s agent hands over a list of things to fix before the photographer arrives. Neither list usually calls for a renovation. Both need someone who will work through them in a sensible order.
Our whole-home renovation in Maple sits at the far end of that range: an empty resale taken all the way to a staged, move-in-ready home with a new kitchen, refinished floors, renovated bathrooms and a full repaint. Most resale lists are far smaller. The order of work is the same either way, and it is the order we follow on a handyman visit.
If you are buying, send us the inspection report along with photos; if you are selling, send your agent’s list. We quote the handyman items as one flat-rate visit, mark which items belong to a licensed electrician, plumber or gas technician, and tell you plainly if anything on the list really points to a renovation.
Water first
Re-seal tubs, showers and backsplashes, replace seized shut-off valves and dripping faucets, and check under every sink. Water does the most damage when it is left alone, and fresh paint over a slow leak only hides the problem until the stain comes back through.
Safety next
Loose stair railings re-anchored into framing, locksets and deadbolts changed on move-in, battery smoke and carbon monoxide alarms tested and replaced, and tall furniture anchored to studs. Hardwired and interconnected alarms go to a licensed electrical contractor.
Then walls, doors and floors
Patch old mount holes, nail pops and dents, rehang doors that bind, put closet doors back on their tracks, and repair loose tile or squeaky boards — the small things that make a house feel neglected during a showing or on moving day.
Paint last
Paint goes on once the patching, caulking and carpentry are finished, so it only has to be done once. For a sale, a warm neutral throughout photographs well and lets buyers picture their own furniture; for a move-in, it is the moment to pick colours before the boxes arrive.
Handyman in Maple — common questions
Yes. FixitPlus built a custom new build in Maple — a wood-forward home with a custom kitchen, coffered ceilings, a billiards room and a sun-filled great room — and carried out a whole-home renovation in Maple, turning a tired, empty resale into a bright, move-in-ready house with a new kitchen, refinished floors, fresh bathrooms and a full repaint. Both projects are documented on our site, the renovation with before-and-after photos.
Yes. Maple is one of the communities that make up the City of Vaughan in York Region, alongside Woodbridge, Concord, Kleinburg and the Vaughan side of Thornhill, and it was folded into the Town of Vaughan in 1971. For homeowners, that means building permits, heritage approvals and property rules in Maple all go through the City of Vaughan. Whether you search for a handyman in Maple, Ontario or in Maple, Vaughan, it is the same place, and we cover all of it.
It depends on the work and where the house sits. The old village core around Keele Street and Major Mackenzie Drive is a heritage conservation district, and exterior changes there — replacement windows or doors, porch alterations, some fences, additions — can need a heritage permit from the City of Vaughan. Interior work is generally treated differently. Check with the City’s heritage staff before you order anything; we will work to whatever is approved.
At twenty-five to thirty-plus years, the original materials tend to fail at about the same time. Expect worn caulk and porous grout in the main bathroom, oak railings loose at the newel, closet doors off their tracks, interior doors that bind, flattened weatherstripping, cracked front-hall tile and a deck on its last few winters. It is a list rather than one job, so we quote it as a single flat-rate visit with your priority items first.
Start with the builder for anything the Tarion new-home warranty covers, such as defects in materials or workmanship, because a third-party repair can muddy the claim. Much of what new Maple homeowners want done sits outside the warranty entirely — mounting the TV, hanging blinds, adding closet shelving, finishing basement trim, anchoring furniture. Book those with us whenever suits you; we can also work around the builder’s service visits.
Yes. In a townhouse, the wall you share with your neighbour is a fire separation, so we do not cut recessed boxes or cable chases into it; we anchor into what the wall is built from and run the cabling neatly, or recommend a better wall. In a condo, we check the corporation’s rules on drilling and book the service elevator in advance. Tell us the address when you enquire and we will plan it before the day.
Yes, and most of it is handyman work. Typical pre-listing items are patching old mount holes and nail pops, repainting in a neutral colour, re-caulking tubs and backsplashes, adjusting doors, replacing tired faucets on existing shut-offs and re-securing loose railings. Send us your agent’s list and we will quote it as one flat-rate visit. If the house needs more — a kitchen or floors — our Maple whole-home renovation shows what that looks like.
Not ourselves. In Ontario, electrical work done for pay has to be carried out by a Licensed Electrical Contractor, so in Maple, as everywhere we work, that part of a job goes to one. If your list includes new lights, pot lights, outlets or a fan, we coordinate the licensed electrical contractor and then handle the drywall patching and painting afterwards, so you still deal with one point of contact.
Call 416-881-2264, email info@fixitplus.ca or send your list through the quote form — a photo of each item helps. We reply with a free, flat-rate quote, usually within one business day, and most Maple handyman jobs book within the same week. We work Monday to Saturday, 8am to 7pm. If something is urgent, such as a leaking fixture or a door that will not lock, tell us and we will prioritize it.
